Candidate Statement

As an immigrant from Korea, I am living “the American Dream” – having benefited from what America has offered me, I view running for Ward 9 State Rep as an opportunity to serve and “give back.”

My family and I lived in Nashua for ten years from 1987 to 1997, and we moved back after 19 years in Lexington, MA. Two of our three children started school at Bicentennial Elementary, and now my wife and I are empty-nesters, and glad to be back in New Hampshire.

I have spent well over 30 years in management positions in high-tech and financial services. My education includes science and engineering degrees from M.I.T. and UC Berkeley, as well as an MBA from Suffolk University.

Fortunately, we are seeing signs of economic improvement, with record low unemployment and rising wages.

In fact, U.S. News ranks New Hampshire as the 5th best state in the country overall, "with a strong business environment and low jobless rate".

I believe in limited government and that it must be very careful about how it serves the public good.

I believe in free markets and limited taxation -- I would vote against any attempt to impose a statewide sales or income tax.

I believe in individual liberty and am a constitutional conservative:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

I believe we are blessed to live in the greatest country on earth, and that America is the land of opportunity, which we have a duty to preserve for future generations:

"We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness"

New Hampshire can retain its reputation as one of the best places to live in America, and continue to improve its standing.

In order for that to happen, I think that NH Legislators need to focus on being“FAIR” in their governing role:

Fiduciary responsibility: for property and funds entrusted by the citizens
Accountability: being open, transparent
Innovation: continuous improvement, looking for better ways
Respect: respect for everyone

I ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 6th for Ward 9 State Representative.
